The Primary School
Amman Academy is authorized by the International Baccalaureate to implement the Primary Years Programme (PYP). The programme is up to Grade 4 in two languages (Arabic and English).
The PYP prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate actively in the world around them. It focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer within the classroom and beyond.
In order to achieve this aim, Amman Academy works in parallel with the IB Learner Profile. This entails the attributes that PYP students need to have to interact effectively within their society. We want learners to acquire and apply a set of transdisciplinary skills that are valuable not only within the classroom environment, but in life outside the academic arena as well.
Amman Academy is a bilingual school where all students are taught in both Arabic and English. The organization of the school’s curriculum is designed to ensure that learners utilize both languages to maximize language proficiency. The PYP supports and encourages learners to express their ideas and understandings in both languages.
